MOUNTAIN FORK

The Mountain Fork Half Marathon is is the second event in the High Knob Triple Crown running series.

 

The sixth annual 13.6-mile race will take place Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025.

 

The race starts and finishes at the High Knob Observation Tower in Wise County. The course loops the scenic Mountain Fork watershed, primarily on Forest Service roads,  before finishing at the High Knob Observation Tower. The tower stands atop the highest point in the Cumberland Mountains and is located on the George Washington & Jefferson National Forests' Clinch Ranger District. High Knob's elevation is 4,200 feet, and five states can be seen from the tower's platform.

The High Knob Triple Crown is a running series organized through the City of Norton that celebrates High Knob. All three races featured in the series showcase the mountain's beautiful scenery and challenging terrain. We hope you'll join us for the 2023 High Knob Triple Crown!
